Sébastien Layral D'Alessandro lives and works in Châtel-Guyon. Active since 1987, he has developed a practice combining painting and performance, with over 1,300 paintings, 110 exhibitions, and 37 performances. His approach closely links life and art: nourished by philosophy, humanitarian commitment, and martial arts, it constitutes a tool for critical questioning of the political and social foundations of our time.
Her portraits and participatory devices question freedom, ethics, and the possibility of a dialogue between reason, emotion, and sensation. By combining the singularity of lived experience with public intervention, the work transforms artistic practice into a space for shared reflection, where the individual and the collective confront each other.
Presented in Paris, Rome, Istanbul, and Hong Kong, his work creates tension between the personal and the political, opening up situations of friction that invite us to reconsider our ways of seeing, listening, and acting. Each project thus becomes a proposition addressed to the viewer: what do we owe to ourselves for being in the world?
